Timing belt?
It's about right. I don't think it's OEM parts though. I think inline4.com sells the kit for $180-200. Ask the shop how much for labor and how much for parts. Then, compare difference between aftermarket parts and OEM. I would def. recommend OEM.

Look into changing it yourself, probably save about 300.00... Its the labor that is so extensive, not the parts. The truth is that most garages charge an average of $60 an hour. Changing a timeing belt is just an intimidating and time consuming procedure, but not as difficult as you may think.
Yes, the price seems about right, and as everyone else has said, the labor is most of the cost. If you are a reasonable mechanic, meticulous, and patient you may wish to try doing the job yourself, but it can be time consuming. I'd budget about 4-5 hours.
