Help with install options:Viper 350HV
ok my girl bought it for me for x mas and it comes with free installation. thing is she lost the recipt so scrap the free install. now im calling around for install quotes and they keep asking me what features i want. im clueless about alarms. AND i have door actuators that need to be installed as well. i got a price of $130 for everything including installation of the actuators and a kill switch (whatever that is) but heres what it says on the back of the box.
bitwriter compatible
ghost switch
rapid resume logic
3ch reciever
trunk pop
power door locks
owner recognition
domelight supervision
vehicle recovery system
mini neo siren.
so i guess my question is, what do i tell the installer?

Who was the product purchased from? If it was a Best Buy.Circuit,Tweeter or basically any major retailer they can track it down the reciept. No biggie there.
The features you want to tell the installer are
Keyless Entry you have the door locks accuators.
Pinswitch on hood and trunk.
Starter or Ignition kill.
Honestly $130 is a steal...but you know what is said You get what you pay for!! I normally charge $180 for a pair of doors parts and labor alone.

Those are the only "features" you'll really have to choose from... if you don't already have an electric trunk pop you might want to scrap that idea... unless you stick alot of stuff back there often it's not worth the extra money to have the actuator installed and all that.
Domelight supervision... I never bother to hook it up. I guess if you live in a bad area it might not be a bad idea, but not worth it in my mind.
Make sure they install the hood and trunk pin switchs, or some sort of mercury switch (issue with them is if you park on a big enough of a hill it will false), as mentioned by the other person above. This way if someone tries to get in the trunk or open the hood the alarm will go off.

A pinswitch is merely a switch that is intalled on your hood or trunk that shows ground when they are opened, like, on a honda, the doors do. The doors already have factory pinswitches that the alarm installer just ties into. Like someone said above, usually a trunk pin is available to tie into as well, but usually hood pins need to be added. Make sure that the $130 that the shop said they would charge includes putting in the actuators and not just tapping into factory locks.

You should make sure you get it installed by someone who knows what they are doing. You can have the best alarm but if it’s not installed properly it’s only good for keyless entry. If you need an installer let me know - I used to work for SoundDiego and SoundMax. I am sure one of the installers I know would be happy to install it on the side for you on a Sunday.
