Shortblock does not have a cylinder head, and intake manifold. It's just the block with all the internals. Longblock is the block with internals, plus the complete cylinder head, intake manifold, fuel rail, injectors. Neither one has a tranny.
And depending on who you buy it from they will include the alternator with the shortblock, or for the longblock the alternator and dizzy.

a longblock has nothing to do with electronics or fuel system it only implies that the major cast components are included. that means when you're buying a long block form a machine shop they arnt selling you an intake manifold as well.
