Default Why does my fan turn on late?

Okay ive had this problem for quite some time now. I replaced the thermostat, thermo switch, radiator, fan, relay, and cap. All OE parts except radiator and fan. Also i bled the system numerous times and the fan still turns on late. I installed a temp gauge and the fan kicks on at 220. Anyone know why this is? Thanks

Where is your temp gauge routed too? The sending unit is probably taking different readings compared to your fan switch.

its routed to the top radiator hose. on the stock gauge, it reads about 3/4 of the way up when the fan kicks on

That's a weird problem.

Even with the fan off, it shouldn't get that warm this time of year. My fan hasn't turned on in a month or two, it even stays off at HPDE's until I park.

When does it heat up that much for you?

well ive had this problem since summer and it would usually happen when i was stuck in traffic or parked. No air passing through the radiator. Car is in storage now but the other day i started it up and let it sit for a while until it got hot again.

Got any more clues? Sounds like you changed the good stuff. Losing any coolant/boiling ever? When you're moving, the temp is always fine?

*shrug* Sounds like it would have to be as simple as the thermostat switch you already replaced.

Yep when im moving the temp is fine. Also if i turn on the heat the temp seems to go back to normal. Im not loosing any coolant, and coolant looks okay.

i guess you could run the fan at all times. Thats how i have my ls/tec setup. the fan just turns on when i turn the key over to start.
