Default SOHC Tranny Question !!!!!!!!

Well lets see i have already messed up one si tranny and now i have a dx tranny and the gears are as long as hell and it also grinds when i shift at high rpm. I know for a fact that i can shift properly because in all of my friends cars that i drive i can usally drive them faster than they can without ever even comming close to grinding or mis-shifting. i guess when you autocross every weekend and drag race with my friends all the time that i should expect something like this, Is it that the D series tranny's are just piece of **** weak or what?

also clutch was in fair condition during both incedints.
feel free to rant or give me idea's about my misfortions.

If I start off the line aggressive and go a little before redline between 1st to 2nd, "This is with the clutch all the way down" it just sticks a little past neutral almost into second and usally is followed by a beautiful grinding noise. Also when i go from 2nd to 3rd "aggressivally "or above 3 grand it will make a nice one second grind but the gear will actually go in. well 4th and 5th are fine and i already got screwed on buying a used tranny and i hope that it does not happen again.

any ideas on getting one rebuilt.....
or maybe even someone that has a ex or si 92 and above tranny.....

thanx for your help "Mista bone"

I did a little road racing on track days for a while with my D16 and went through 3 trannys in 3 years.

Got a B16 and havent had any problems with the tranny yet. I dont know for a fact if they're a piece of s**t but in my own opinion , Yes they are.

Ha....... I am about the only person that I hang out with that has a SOHC and from what i have seen all the DOHC motor/tranny are very strong. Either i race to much on it or Sohc are weak.

Mista Bone you should make a Hybrid tranny mph and gear shift for the 96=dx tranny on SI del Sol or hatch so everyone can see that doing 109 in 3rd gear is cool........j/k i hate it .

1-2 shift fork is bent/worn/broke. Need to know what tranny you are working on.

I am just trying to find another used EX or Si tranny but it seems like i am going to be stuck in another bad deal it is hard finding a good used trany that is not all beat to ****.

ohh well i kinda like the d series motor because it has enough speed to keep you having fun and is good for tight turns on the autocross because it weighs nothing and won't understear as bad because of the overpowering.

Mista Bone the gears that are grinding are 1-2 shift ,second grinds and 2-3 gear it grinds about 3000 rpm.someone suggested some redline racing fluid but i know my tranny gears or synkros "heh i can't spell"are fried,i guess i will try some on my next tranny.

1-2 shifter fork or mainshaft bearings.

I'll bet on the shifter. I always keep a spare onhand for a reason, they SUCK!

what would cause the shifter to pop out of 2nd when driving?

some times it stays, and sometimes it totally just pops out like there is no tomorrow.

shifter popping out is a bearing problem.
