Default ceramic dual ball bearings vs stainless steel ball bearings

does anyone know the difference between dual ball bearing turbos that use ceramic ball bearings and those that use stainless steel ball bearings?

there is not any info on this subject that I can find.

also, this is not a thread about "is ball bearing better than journal bearing", so let's not get started with all that

thanks.

I'm not going to get into a lot of detail, but what I can tell you is that the use of ceramic bearings in turbos is very 80s technology, before there were steel ball-bearings. I remember when RAYJAY turbos used to use them, and (unfortunately) Turbonetics on some of their street series had a tendency to use them as well. The ceramic bearings could take the heat of the steel ones, but they were a bit more fragile when it came to abuse over the long haul than today's better equipped steel-ballbearing setup. IT's one of those things in which it's not the worse thing in the world to own if you happen to have it, but it's not something you want to choose when there are so many other alternatives out there. I honestly would use a standard 360 degree journal bearing than a ceramic bearing turbo.

I've used them, liked them for what they were, and moved on.. It's like using Windows 98.. sure it'll work, but it can't support a lot of new things that are out there.

The ITS dual ball bearing cartidges are similar to the Garret.
They are VERY durable and efficient.
