Opinion wanted on transmission rebuild
I am going to rebuild the transmission of my 98 ITR, and wanted to know what your own personal experiences were with different rebuild kits. I want to keep the gearing the same, and the reason I am rebuilding it is because it stopped going in reverse. I haven't had time to pull the transmission apart yet to see what went wrong. If you can tell me your experiences with rebuild kits, and/or one you hear is reputable let me know, Thanks for you time.
P.S.
I tried some searches but didn't find anything with peoples opinions, maybe my internet just sucks, so if this thread exists and u know it please send me the link

It may be an issue with the 5th/reverse synchro sleeve and selector. We've run into an issue with the teeth on the selector sleeve being damaged and the teeth being slightly mushroomed so that it wouldn't allow the sleeve to go all the way into reverse b/c they were catching on the hub.

Yeah sorry if I gave the wrong impression I am not trrying to rebuild it to be better, it's the fact that I just want it working, and was wondering where you bought your parts from, and if you had better experience with other than OEM parts. Thanks to all for your help

No problem...just didn't want you searching for something that doesn't exist

Just so you know, I got the new synchro/selector sleeve and hub today and it does move freely both ways so that the sleeve can fall off the hub in either direction.
The damaged one would snag moving up into reverse.
If you don't feel like cracking the casing on your own or don't have the tools to pull the hub, feel free to bring it over.
