How available is the D16y5?
I am lookin to swap an engine into the rex....how available is the D16y5? I am lookin at this for the great gas mileage, would be killer in a rex! Anyone know where I can find one (complete preferably)? or how much they cost? Thanks guys/gals, appreciate it.
Forget the D16Y5 . . . too much to worry about with emissions equipment and such. I doubt you'd ever get it to run properly wioth a reasonable amount of work.
Is fuel economy your #1 priority? If so, why not just swap in an HF drivetrain or something?

well, the motor it has now has 350k on it, lol. Don't think it's going to last much longer... I want a decent ammount of power (120ish or so) but also want good gas mileage (so the B16 is out). If I would of wanted power, I would just keep my camaro, lol. Can't afford theg as on it though, it's a bitch.
My 2nd choice is the D16y8. How much work is it to get these babies in a rex?
crx_control I am not aware of a D16y6....any info? I know of a y5, y7, and y8, but not of the y6.

it was d15B6 and as far as i know it is the same as the d15B1 except:
d15b1- 70hp dpfi and 4spd trans
d15b6- it has a better cam a better flowing throttle body and a different ecu so it puts out 92hp has dpfi and usually has a 5spd trans
d15b1- 70hp dpfi and 4spd trans

You're thinking of the D15B2 (DX/LX engine).
The D15B6 was the 8-valve MPFI 62hp HF engine.

My B16 in my 93 EX would get 30 mpg regularly, and 40mpg at 65-70 with cruise control.
