Fuel tank swap?
OK, I realize this isn't exactly a performance mod, but bear with me...
I've always noticed that it gets hard to get over 280 miles on a tank from my D16Y8 Civic--11.9 gallons just doesn't cut it! I was just curious... would it be possible to swap in a larger tank from another model? Disregard the safety issues--I won't do it, but just curious if it'd be possible to get a larger tank and the pickup from the larger tank (perhaps a Prelude or something??)?
Thoughts/ideas?

The 2002 oddyssey tank is 20gallons. I dont see how that big of a tank can fit on a civic.

Yeah the Oddssey tank does seem a little large. Something like 15-17 gal should do the trick...
I'm still a little skeptical of the Oddssey tank idea... do you have pictures?

If you really want to see your gas mileage jump up, whe you are on the highway, cruise at 60 instead of 70, or 55 instead of 65, trust me on this one.
Also, if you shift around 3k (I know how gutless the car feels then, but that is why we downshift) You will also see an increase in mileage.
And one last thing, I think it is illeagal, but you can coast down hills in neutral, will idling at 700 rpm, you can cover 1/2 a mile on a good hill very easily.
Good Luck!!

Re: Fuel tank swap? (Briman2021)
Well... I guess I should have mentioned I'm running a Greddy turbo, which, under normal conditions, should not change my mileage any... what is different however, something's been wrong about my fuel pickup, and if I drop below 1.5 gal left in the tank, the engine will start sputtering... before this fuel pickup issue, I could get about 300 miles to the tank, at about 28mpg in mixed driving.
