a week after the 96 b18c swap is in im surprised at how fuel efficient it is. Daily driving on streets i get atleast 25 mpg's. And i have gotten 30 mpg when i dont floor it a lot. It seems like its geting slightly better malieage then my b16a1 got. (?) Maybe cause of the tourque in a lighter car, i dont really have to give it that much gas to get up and go. Anybody else geting this kinda mileage from a GSR civic?

I got 31.7 mpg in my hatch when I filled up a whole tank and did the math. It surprised the hell out of me considering I don't drive it easy all the time.

You should get fairly decent gas mileage with a stock motor. at last 25 mpg is definitely in the ball park if it's running right.

taking it light i can get 31.5mpg.....heaving with the right foot my mileage goes down to about 26-17mpg....and thats turbo'd.....You should get at least 30+mpg if your n/a

Kinda off topic but just curious how you like the swap overall?..Would you do it over again?...I'm planning on doing the same swap in my EK, just a little hesitant whether i should get the GSR or be patient and get the Type r...let me know..thanks

The GSR is a very nice swap. Way better then my old b16. Its got good tourque for daily driving too. And once you get all the bugs out hopefully you can drive it and not worry about it.

i think my 92 eg (cx) b18c1 swap is running a little rich and I'm not getting the type of gas mileage that I would expect. I've been getting about 220-240 miles per tank (10 gallons) on the highway, which is less than 25mpg.

the reason i suspect it may be rich is because of the smell of the exhaust and because the car sort of mini backfires once in a while when i let off the accelerator after acceleration. does this sound typical of a car running rich?

the only other things i can think of might be that I need my valves adjusted (i've noticed honda notorious light clicking noise when I'm idle) and that my air intake might be a little closer than i'd prefer to the radiator. could these affect gas mileage?

for reference i run a jdm DC (ITR) 4-1 header that has a 2.5" collector, a carsound high flow cat and a Greddy SP2 catback.

Any ideas or suggestions? also how to physically adjust how rich/lean the car is running? can i do this myself fairly easily, also how about adjusting the valves.

well i did the b18c swop, i get about the same gas milage too with my. but on the other hand it hapend once but i got about 350 mile to one tank i did not know if it was a fluck or not... i would not change nothing about the swop. it is to much to have...lol

i'm gonna adjust my valves, replace the cap, wires and plugs. see how that does.

any parts suggestions?

You bastard's are getting mad gas milegage! with my JDM B18c (GSR) when I floor it I get like 280KM out of a tank without flooring it I can get 400-410km.

From my experience, Civics and CRXs actually get quite good mileage with these bigger motors. Probably alot of this has to do with the fact that you don't need to floor the accelerator with these motor as you would with a smaller 1.5 or 1.6 liter motor. And flooring the accelerator makes the engine run rich (by making it run in open loop mode). This wastes gas.

Gas seems almost the identical to me having the DX motor...GOOD GAS MILEAGE...I cant complain, unless its time for an oil change, thats when gas goes and oh yeah...When Im cruising the sun of a gun
