"what are those?"
see: http://walnutcreekhonda.com/Repair/Radiator.jpg for example..
The cause would be ~Heat and pressure~..
Plastic is not the strongest material known to man..
It could be just caused by old age
or you may have an over-heating issue.
I would not drive it until the radiator
has been repaired or replaced and holds pressure.
Otherwise you risk overheating and warping the head.
I would probably replace the thermostat and the radiator cap
and flush the cooling system while you are at it.

i would buy a new radiator to start fresh .. i think for it to crack would be a high pressure increase and also your radiator could be old is it the stock one the car came with . if it is then that's alot of yrs u have a 88 crx ?
if it's on the plastic neck then i too would use jb weld"i have done this but with bad results" and then slide the hose as far as possible over it,when you use the jb weld.as soon as you apply it take a heat guin to it to get it super hard then wait over night and you should be ok for a little bit.
I have a 91 CRX. I was working on it about a month ago, leaned it the top and I think I cracked the top (plastic). About 4 to 8 inches I guess. So I get on the internet and find that I can buy a new one for 80 or 90 bucks and thats what I did. Replace the old plastic thing with a new one. Is easy and good for piece of mine.
The top and bottom of the old ones are plastic and eventually crack for everyone.
