I have a ripped boot, not the cv boot, it's located more towards the front of the car but in the same area of the engine bay. It's about 6-8 inchees long and im not sure what part it is, definetly involved in the steeirng/drivetrain just not sure which part it is

If it's not the cv/axle boot it sounds like the inner tie rod boot.

Those are the only two that I can thinl of.

Bellows boot.

Buy a new one. Remove the tie rod end and replace the boot. get an alignment afterwards.

 

so it sounds like its the dust boot, ive heard it doesn't get filled with grease, but my ripped one seems like there's grease leaking out of it?????
