you only change the ecu to work with piggyback systems like Hondata, becuase it isn't compatible with any H22a ecus.
The question is, what ecu are you running now? And what are you trying to do with your setup?
The FAQ thread has a link to an ecu choice thread, I suggest you read it. "The definitive Prelude ECU choice / Hondata Info Post by FireDrake"

A O28 and P72 can be chipped to work with an H22. I personally run a 1999 Accord with an H22 and a P28 with Hondata to control it all.
As for chipping a P13, I know Hondata does not support the P13, not sure about Uberdata or others out there...

I don't recommend using chipped ecus, unless you have well documented results of said chip on the motor...only custom chips are good..not the 'mugen' or 'skunk2' bs on ebay.
Just buy an AEM EMS...no wiring to deal with...plug and play. Given you have an OBD2 it's the simplest...
or conversion harness + hondata/uberdata chippable ecu.
And no, to my knowledge there is no easy way of chipping P13 ecus. I have be heard that uberdata may having a solution..but I have no details to validate that.

I'm running a p28 on my h22a1. It's a very simple plug and play situation. The harness plugs right into the p28. Only thing I had to do was get the p28 socketed. Oh yah, the bolts that hold the ecu down don't exactly line up but one of them does and the carpet does the rest! haha
But yah, I was having a problem at first, and I realized that the p28 was running off of the stock civic si settings and it was having some problems. It threw a code but it was still running. I drove around for a while and it was in limpmode but...it was still running! haha Anyway, yah, been running the p28 for a while with uberdata and no probs...just gonna rebuild the engine soon for more boost and peace of mind!
