Default Calling all JRSC SOHC guys:

I just purchased a used charger off ebay, is there anything I should be doing to it maintence wise before I install it? I know new belts , vacuum hoses and gaskets. Anything else? How does it run with the stock FMU etc? Im going to be getting it tuned in the spring, but will it be ok for a 3 hour drive out there etc? I did a few searches and didnt come up with much other than people saying that the JRSC is slow etc. Im not using it for a drag race just daily driven street use etc.. Im excited hehe

I was also looking into clutches, how much over stock should I go?

i geuss get anyone that you want, my friend has a race clutch and it daily driven. It has no springs, so it's hard to press down on. It's up to you what you want

personally i still would have gone with a turbo. but this is yours and JRSC might be your best option. I don't think you will need anything other than a stage one clutch if anything. I am not to sure about tuning that is a touchy subject, but i would say to get it tuned before you do any driving. just my .02

well doesnt the stock jrsc kit only put out 5 psi or something like that? you could run an fmu that comes with it, i would think most people who buy the kit use that untill they move onto bigger and better things ya know , just my opinioj though

i would look toward an act hdss clutch setup. i have also heard good things from action clutches. either way, you dont need a super heavy duty clutch due to the lower torque outputs of a s/c over a turbo

Yeah im gonna be running the stock boost for a lil while, but I want to make sure its ok to run on that. I know some do, but just want to make sure its safe enough to do for a lil bit. The closest place for me to tune it is out in Buffalo which is like 2.5-3 hr drive. I just want to make sure the drive will be ok with just the FMU etc.

You should be fine to drive the car. I had the same setup on my integ at one time and drove it for a year before I got it tuned. I personally feel that the JRSC FMU isn't the top quality out there...but it will do the job. Jackson designs their superchargers to be run with what they sell. The FMU usually runs a little richer AFR to ensure that your car dosen't lean out. I took mine to get it tuned eventually {more just to see the numbers} on all the stock JRSC stuff and the AFR was fine. Like everyone said....you really can't "tune" with just the JR supplied parts anyway. If you decide to upgrade....then use Hondata or something and spend the money to get it tuned. Till then.....your probably fine. As for the clutch...you probably won't need to do much untill you you start increasing the boost as long as you aren't snatching every gear and such. Good luck!

just fyi and you already probably know this, but just incase you didn't. make sure your engine is in good shape before you through on the SC. common knowledge but you'd be surprise what some people do. but like integ6657 said, you should be fine. have fun with your new toy
