Does the EGR Valve make it run worse
A guy I want to buy a car from took off the EGR valve becuase it was a little "doggier" with it on. Is it normal for a car to have a little less power with the EGR valve connected? Is there some way to know if the valve is good or bad?
This is a 91 CRX HF 180K
Thanks

If the valve is malfunctioning and hanging open,
It is essentially like a large vacuum leak at idle and it will
run rough as though it has a dead miss..
If the valve is bad,The ecu will usually throw a code..

ECU=electronic control unit or "brain"
Is the check engine light on or does it even work?
It should come on/go off when you turn on the key..
EGR would be a code 12 in this case..

Yes the check engine light was on when I test drove the car and the present owner told me why it was on (egr) I didn't see it flashing or anything like that but I was only in the car for 15 minutes
