It does matter alot because Honda's are high revving engines. Most people I would say rev between 8500-9500 depending on engine and setup. With the turbos most of us use they make all their power up top. Hope this helps you out some.

so you have to wind the heck out of the motor to make power?

of course, its a small displacement 4cyl. if you want a low revving power maker, go with a v8

depends on turbo sizing a lot. Most people on here run turbos that are a little oversized which shifts the power highr in the rpms. If you put a small turbo on a motor you will make a lot more midrange adn less up top, this can be fun for the street but in my opinion gets old fast. I think a larger turbo compliments the natural feel of a high reving honda motor, some disagree.

but i heard horsepower is impressive and torque wins races

still doesnt matter. again small displacement 4cylc dont have tq. if you want that get a low revving V8. TQ doesnt always win races. Hi HP will make it up in the top end with catching that TQ monster and trapping higher.

Depends on too many things. Point is, with most Hondas to make power you wil be revving hi.

anywhere from 3000-8000 I make power with the 16g, 19psi that is. Revlimiter has been raised to 8500 via the tmo stage 3 ecu, I never took it up there, only to 8000, but Most of my power Id say is being made by 6k, you feel it at top end but not as much, If I had a 50trim or a tdo5 or tdo6 20g it would prolly keep getting better all the way till 8k.

Ok, so a 200 horsepower diesel with 600 ft-lbs of torque will win against a 650 horsepower honda with 400 ft-lbs of torque?

depends on way to my things. what turbo. how big is the shot of nos. when are you spraying.

also your not going to find a honda with 200 hp and 250tq. reverse the numbers and maybe. normaly these little 4cl have higher HP then tq.

peak power i think would be when the Tq starts to fall off. but you might be revering to peak power as peak HP.

The following info about HP and TQ is quoted from Bristol Dyno (http://www.bristoldyno.com/info/whatis.htm)

In the real world - what's the difference between horsepower and torque?

In English, horsepower is the ability to do work in a given amount of time, and torque is strength. To make an analogy, (and a really good one, I might add) let's compare a human weightlifter to an automobile engine. An engine in a typical 4 cylinder commuter car might have 100 hp and 100 ft-lb. of torque. How about the weightlifter? Let's hook him up to a handwheel that has a 1 ft. radius. A big strong guy should be able to push and pull on that wheel with 100 lb. of force, therefore generating 100 ft-lb. of torque, easily equaling the engine. When it comes to horsepower however, our guy is going to fall short. One horsepower is defined as lifting 550 lb. up one foot in one second. Two horsepower could be 1100 lb. up one foot in one second, or 550 lb. up two feet in one second or 550 lb. up one foot in half a second, (you get the idea.) Let's attach a rope to the handwheel and tie that to a 550 lb. weight. How is our weightlifter going to do now? You can imagine - not very well. Attach the handwheel to a gearbox and then to a wheel with the rope and he might be able to perform some work. Unfortunately, he'll be lucky to generate one horsepower before petering out. Bottom line - both the engine and the weightlifter can be strong, but the engine can perform a lot more work. The beauty of the engine is that it can maintain a relatively high torque over a broad range of speed (rpm,) and it can continue doing that until it runs out of fuel or breaks. Our poor weightlifter can't spin that wheel very fast, and the torque he generates will drop dramatically as he speeds up.

This thread sucks. We are ABLE to make peak power at 9000+ which allows us to run very short gears.. Torque at the wheels is a combination of torque at the engine + torque through the gears. You can either get the torque in one place or the other. If you want a general statement then here you go; Honda's get torque from the gears(high horsepower, high revving engines) and V8's get it from the engine(high horsepower, low revving engines)..
