eletric die grinders.. can't use air.. anything good out there ?
Hey guys, i've been doing headwork with a industrial drmemal, which is a pain in the ***... it works just the same as anything else except after 10mins of work it gets tardo and overheats, and looses a lot of power. I do headwork about 2 hours at a time, need 1/4" of course, 25-30rpms seem to work the best.
So far, i've seen some of the mikita's for around 100-150 and thoose seem nice. What do you guys think.... recommend, etc

If you wait till tommoerow I'll post pics of the makita...its all you need, enough torque, super smooth in your hands, and very quiet. The air die grinders are a nightmare on my senses.
heres google image

Is the dremel the heavy duty version with the 1/4 hand peice....its a very good tool aswell. But if you are using the hobby tool to port heads then please stop as you can't do anything worthwhile with those 1/8 bits.
BUT the hobby tool is great for grinding around the valve seat and guide area like grinding the valve seats bases flush with the port that tool work nice for that.

I have a dewault one.. Dunno if they still make them but its the best one I have seen and since I hate my compressor being on i knew it was the tool to buy! Most professional head shops use electric!
The Makita model is absolutely perfect for porting. I ported over 250 turbine housings for Eclipse/Talon turbo cars and my Makita worked perfectly everytime and still ports 10-15 turbos per week.
I recommend it for its ability to take a licking and keep on ticking!

Look for a metabo unit. I have a friend of mine who has one and I used it one day It is a real professional tool. It is very powerful and not a light duty piece like the makita. It has a soft start feature so that it doesn't put a torque load on your wrists when it starts very nice and also variable speed I believe the part number is GE700 The variable speed feature will allow you to use the long carbide cutters needed in some area's to port cylinder heads. 4 to 6 inch long bits don't like spinning at 20,000 plus as a little bit of runout will destroy the bit and doesn't do the grinder and good either. This is a very high quality tool and will last you. Good work is much easier to do when you have the tools to do it.
