Default Air tool Recommendations

I am thinking of buying an 1/2'' impact gun and a 3/8'' air ratchet, any recommendations? I was looking at craftsman, good price. Do you really need 500ft lbs of tq in an impact gun for automotive use??? I want to buy them becasue I have some suspension work to do and I am tired of brusing my ****.

Let me know what you guys think.

The Ingersoll-Rand plastic bodied air tools are my favorite, and I've owned a LOT of air-tools in my time. You can't go wrong with them. If I remember the part numbers correctly, either the IR2131 or the IR2135 1/2" drive air impacts kick ***. I bought mine from http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net

Oh, and yes, you do want the most torque you can get in a 1/2" drive impact.

2 things I recommend the most:

1.) Get a GOOD air gun

2.) Get a 1/4" air-ratchet (doesn't have to be an expesive one)

3.) if you still have some money left after you buy (1) and (2) and get all the sockets, then get a 3/8" air ratchet

I would recommend that you get the best air gun that you can afford...prefferably an IR, as previously recommended.

Get a set of swivel impact sockets along with some short and tall impact sockets

Also as far as air rachets are concerned, get a 1/4" drive for all the little 10mm and 8mm and 12mm bolts for little things. You will be surprised at how often you use this. (also get some swivel sockets for this too). I use this more that I use the 3/8" air rachet.

The 1/4" in air rachets are MUCH smaller and easiers to get around with in the car than the 3/8" air rachets.

Oh and yes for suspension work you will need 500+ foot/lbs of torque.

make sure that you get a 6-point impact socket for the axle nut.

YOU WILL NEED IT

Same 1/2" gun as me. Best 1/2" gun on the market-period. As far as air wratchets I would stick w/ snap-on. They always seem to work the best for me.

http://cgi.ebay.com/INGERSOLL-...21734

for the IR that locash recommended.

I personally went with the 2135QTi.

Light, small, powerful for a 1/2 drive.

I would love to have a quiet air rachet.

and a quiet air compressor,

this would let me work on the car into the night without waking up the family and neighbors!
