annoying Rattle..jl audio 10w6
i have a 10w6 and during mid-high volumes i hear a rattling noise coming from the dust cap..(the center of woofer)
prior to that, one of my coils came loose so i resoldered it back..it worked fine and no rattling for about several weeks, now its rattling "internally", it still produces nice bass but its freakin annoying.
should i :
1. repair (hoW?)
2. buy another sub

u either have a misaligned coil or the wiring of the coil itself had unwind itself. what you soldered was the lead tensils.
i would buy another sub. you can't fix it if its either the misalignment or unwounded coil. JL audio does not repair the W6 or have any parts to fix it. I asked awhile back when i was curious to see how much it would cost in the event if it blew.

If it's a 10w6 version 1...meaning it is the original w6 and it has a dust cap that attatches the the cone externally...then this is a common problem with wear and tear on w6's...
Take the sub out of the box...you will note that the spider is mounted to a kind of ring that is only attached to the basket using a strong adheasive. Well your adheasive has just worn down...I'm 90% sure of it. Just superglue the spider mount back to the basket or silicon it and let it sit overnight. Put it back in the box...play...enjoy!
