Default Problems with GE vaccum manifold....

has anybody had any problems with it? A buddy of mine was trying to explain somethign to me...just wondering if this is true??:
you will fill those lines with fake information
"because it takes it a while to fill those lines up due to the restrictive inlet for information so it takes the lines a while to read correct... so then if he lets off the gas and releases the air out of the charge pipes the wastgate is still gonna see boost when he isnt and it wont read boost when he is boosted hell be at like 6 psi when the wastgate sees 2 psi so its stays shut..when really it needs to start opening so he hits 10 psi and the wastegate sees 6"

He seems to beleive the only way for it to be right is to find separate sources for all of your vaccum needs (boost gauge, WG, Boost controoler solenoid). Is this true?

Im pretty sure it's caused by tapping after the TB. Line length has an effect on response, but nothing that large. Regardless, lot's of people run them without issue.

your main line to the vacc manifold is from the brake booster.

Yeah. But regardless, it's after the TB.

I've had a vacuum mani for over a year, no problems ever!! No boost spikes, no wastegate seeing boost when it shouldn't, nothing.

I think your buddy is smoking lawn clippings!!

I have one in my car that is hooked up in line with the brake booster and it works great. Never had any problems with it.

golden eagle has a diagram (on their website) that shows their block sourced from the intake mani... then the dist block feeds the brake booster... is that not right??

I ran mine from the the port on the intake manifold that used to be for the PCV. It's 3/8" just like the brake booster, only it's not sharing vacuum readings with the brakes.

ok, so it sounds like you just need a LARGER diameter vacuum source from the IM and you should be set.

clean setup ladysman
