Hi all , is anyone here using a Garrett GT35R . We have an unusial version of it in Australia for a 4 Liter Ford Six . It has a 56 trim compressor + TO4E 50AR cover with the GT35 turbine in a 1.06 AR turbine housing (single entry T3 flange) .
Brett Lloyd from GCG Turbochargers in Sydney has tooled up for a new .63AR integral waste gate housing for the GT35 turbine and could be desirable for some of you . Sadly there is no .82AR integral version for it yet .
I will probably run one on an RB26/31 hybrid Nissan engine but don't want to use the TSO4 cover with the 4" inlet and 2.5" outlet . Is there a cover that uses 2.75 in and 2" out ? Also is the the GT35R available in smaller trims .

Well I would say that a regular GT35r is a smallish turbo for an RB26, not really sure about that one you have, but it seems that it would spool slower, but have better top end potential

A typical GT35r would work great if you need a very fast spool--it already spools fast on a 1.8 liter motor, so it will really spool well on an RB26

so maybe you could source the parts from a typical GT35r or

if you really want custom, i am sure you can get anything you want by calling up precision or any good turbo company, but it may work good as it is

what are the goals for the car...drag, autocross, power level desired, etc.?
any particular reason you want the small cover?

 

Just road , by 26/31 I mean RB26 Head on RB30 bottom end bored +.060 to about 3060cc's . The pistons are JE's designed for VG30DETT's . The smaller cover is more compact and suits smaller plumbing , only want 1 bar at the very most .

 

this wouldnt happen to be the turbo from the ford xr6t would it? If so how much did u end up paying for a used one of this? Thanks

 

The only thing that's really unusual about your turbo is the small A/R on the compressor cover. The GT35R that's available here thru Garrett USA (and from any autorized distributor) has the same 82mm 56 trim compressor wheel with a 0.70 cover with either a 1.06 or a 0.82 single entry T3 inlet.

The internal wastegate sounds interesting from a cost standpoint, but we don't use them because they don't have a replaceable spring. This means you can't run lower or higher boost pressures without changing the entire assembly. If yours has a replaceable spring, then that would be cool.
