I THINK the manual says to put the car up on jackstands if possible, and to have a full tank of gas.

First, don't start it up every few days. It will waste gas, cause strain and premature wear on your engine and will waste your time.

Put in gas stabilizer in your gas tank, fill up and drive for about 5 minutes. (prevents gas from going bad)

Then put a thin film of lube on the door weatherstrips. (prevents them from sticking in the spring)

Remove the battery and store it inside. (prevents it from draining itself and possibly shortening its life)

Wash it completely.

You may want to put lube on the various hinges of your car (doors, hood, etc..)

Also, you may want to put either foil, or steel whool in the tailpipe. Prevents little critters from nesting in there.

Fuel stabilizer & a bottle the anti-gas line freeze.

I would start it up every other day to prevent the oil from sitting in the engine too long.

Putting the car on jack stands will prevent flat spots on the tires.

Change the car oil.

Refer to the car manual, it should tell you what to do.

Ok we are both doing the exact same thing. Car stored on side of house under car cover for winter with tree cover for any hail and what not. Half tank of gas. 00' SH. I didn't put any stabilizer or anything in the gas line, worst case scenario, if I don't touch the car all winter and start it up in mid april to early may what is the worst that could happen, I wouldn't think leaving the car for 4-5 months would affect anything that adversely, especially oil. Please help since I am in the same boat as the thread starter, car is up on jackstands.

The reason you put stabilizer in the gas tank is to prevent the gas from going bad. I have seen, since i do store my motorcycle every winter for a period of 6 months, that gas can go bad. Also, you want to let the car run for a bit to get that stabilizer in the gas lines and such. Prevents varnish build-up.

Also, used oil can remain in there all winter it is fine. But when the ime comes in spring, drain and replace.

Also, you do not need to start your car every other day or so. What is the point to this? Because of dry starts, you are causing premature wear on your engine.

I just changed the oil before I stored the car, now what do I do? 25$ for full synthetic oil change down the drain?

Spending $25 is bettet then spending $xxxx to get your engined fixed.

It's all up to you if you want to start the car. I start mines because I'm not patient enough to wait three month.

Whatever floats your boat.

Listen, some people change the oil before and after, some don't... It has been debated here and on a ton of other forums. Everybody has their way of doing things...

they pretty much covered everything. put her on some jack stands. rag/foil or whatever on the tailpipe. FILL THE GAS TANK. i think thats number 1 important. If not, moisture could get in the empty section of the tank and cause it to rust. The last thing you want is a fuel tank full of rust and then you try to start the car.

fuel stabilzer with anti freeze.. not gonna throw it on jacks since its on lawn. cover the tail pipe. u think the gas tank will acutally rust inside tho?.. havent done anythin about the gas yet. covered it up with a car cover. did nothing to the oil, but it hasnt hit 3000 miles.. so it shouldnt matter... maybe like 2000 miles at most. new oil will be put in after it gets bak on pavement.

Gunko Fuel Stabilzer
Elite Dryline Gas line anti freezer
93 octane (1/2 tank) ill have to top it off later.
car cover.
orignal oil. synblend.
