I'm new Bee otches
I'll try to post pics later as my old *** lap-top is being retarded.
Anyway, my name is Chuck; I am 24 and have been involved in autoX and road-racing for about 5 years. My first year of autoX I was asked to be the Solo program director (which I did for about 1.5 seasons) I stayed long enough to improve the regional program, then had to move out of state. Because I was on the board of directors I have also helped with setting up a regional road-race as well as earning my credentials for corner working, with my favorite in the Pits. In 2001 I had a formula continental literally go over my head up-side down while I was working the pits at the race at mid-Ohio.... AHHH
Several years ago I bought my first and only Honda a 2000 Si; it is still in the family, but now daily drive an 03 WRX.
I am a rotary Nut, and have been very active in the rotary community for about 6 years....
After owning, parting, building, racing over 70 RX cars in my life I finally came across one of my dream cars 2 years ago and ended up buying my 50K original mile ex-national level autoX RX-3 from a 95 year old activeracer who had let the car sit in a barn since 1986 waiting for me. I met this friend while living out of state near Champaign, Illinois. I went to look at the car while i still lived there. then due to an illness in my family i took a huge pay-cut, demoted myself and transfered back to Fort Wayne, Indiana to be closer to my family. I ended up calling my friend last March, who said he knew i wanted the car and was holding it for me. I Picked it up last May and started the build.
I was lucky to buy a perfectly set up rolling chassis.. Front coil-over, front camber plates, 29mm front anti-sway bar w/ anti-dive spacers, rear springs are flat-tracked, Konis all around.. I put some budget minded 13x7 Diamond wheels with free take off BFG R1 205/60R-13" from the rears of Spec-racer-fords. I rebuilt the 3rd member going to a 4.375 rear ratio from the original 3.90 and added a 2-way LSD unit from a 1982 RX-7.
I know most of you know a little aboot (Canadian or "about") the rotary. I had a 13B in there last season to get my feet wet with this chassis, and to experiment with my ignition set-up. The 13B is coming the rest of the way out tomorrow, and I'll be putting in a completely stock 12A from a 1980 RX-7. The present direction of the build is to prepare the car exactly how it would have been 20 years ago; using only parts that were readily available back in ~1985. I have a special, old-school rotary engineering header which actually bolts to the remainder of the stock exhaust. The induction is an old-school TWM dual side-draft set-up to which will be bolted 2 Mikini 44 PHH carbs ( I have like 5 44phhs on the shelf, I love these carbs). It has a 9.5 pound flywheel... down from 31.. And a center force clutch.
I build all my own engines with great success. Later in the '05 Season I'll likely assemble and install my version of an autoX/SP 12A engine (something like 200 wheel hp, stock idle, quiet.. RELIABLE 10K redline.. the idea is to not give anyone else in my class (ie, my money spending freak friends) any dis-advantage under me... until then.
For those CSP guys out there, you can tell I am preparing this thing to the letter of current CSP rules. There are a couple Local Honda CSP guys I am coming for in 05. They have awesome cars. It will be a challenge. Hopefully reading some of your posts will help me learn more about their specific cars... maybe enough to defile them
I have alot of time playing with front engine/ rear drive suspension set-up and even more time with the rotary engine, if you guys have any questions, please let me know.
Thank you in advance for the warm welcome I am sure to receive, I know I am in good company
Respectfully Submitted,
Chuck

I must really suck as a driver then... I've got my CRX built up almost to the CSP limits and I'm getting slaughtered localy by Jim and Tami Daniels and their Miata. It's not even close.

Heaths is an '85 HF with an Si motor in it (legal update/backdate for CSP). This is the Honda to have for CSP IMO.
Its extremely light and quick but not at all easy to drive. I wish I had one just like it.

Actually, I think the Honda to have in CSP is the same as Alan Kuglers, an 89 HF with the Si conversion. You are giving up a little less than 200 lbs to the first Gen CRX's in weight. You have MUCH more power and a much better suspension though. Alan was the top honda in CSP for several years running. I thought it was ashame that he never won in that car. He was SOOOO close, but he is making up for it now with the civic I guess.
Th reality though is the MR-2 Spyder is where it is now. McGeorges car is not even near the limit of the rules, it is only going to get faster the more he and Tim develop it.

Its good to have a fellow rotary nut here. Although I have never had enough disposable income to buy a rex, I'm hoping that day will finally come soon.

Did you think I meant rex as in CRX? I actually meant rex as in RX-2, RX-3, or RX-7(I guess that would now also include the RX-8).

alex, dude, as soon as i get something to tow the bitch, i'll be good..
you wouldn't believe what the tow companies are charging this time of year!!!
Especially for a car i will have here for like a week while i tear it to a shell then throw the rest away.
AHHH
I am thinking aboot buying a white like cargo van as a tow vehicle... or maybe just put some time/money and (wheels and tires, transmission, brake, and wiring correcions complete) on the Short Bus and use that.
I am picking up my friend Chuck's EP RX-7 in Illinois next week... so i'll have a trailer to use, maybe the day before i leave when i have my loaner truck, i can pick that bloated pig up.
ALTHOUGH!!! I still think the miata stuff is more appropriate for you application..
OH, and when you get a chance, let finally get a couple rotary manifolds made... I have dereks car store behind my house...
and my MIG is here.
WE can drive that focker into the garage, remove the header, and you can mock some **** up.
Oh, and a bridge-ported 12A Turbo Is sounding more and more appealing.
I am online on AIM,
if you are too, hit me up.
SS124A
I may be in and out of the garage, we are taking the 13B out tonight, and throwing in the SA22C engine.

are you thinking I have a short wheel base School bus??
Um, no,
I have a really really reliable (let it sit for months on end, haven't changed the oil in 5 years and it still starts on the first crank) yellow (Spanish Gold) 1974 GMC Longbed pick-up.
THis thing is awesome, i just had new U-joints installed, it needs a little work here and there before it becomes my town anywhere tow-vehicle.
Although I'd much rather have something newer... this is paid for.
