FITV vs IACV?
Ok, since nobody is answering my other posts, i did some more deeper searching, and before i acually did anything stupid to my car, i searched some more which confused me a lil, so ill ask the question instead of wasting hours which i dont have.
Back on topic...My idle after a cold start is around (give or take .5k) 3k, which isnt good, but its a cold start. After about a min or two, it goes down but surges from 1-3k every couple seconds (acually to beat w/ Roll Out by ludacris
). I have checked all of the lines connecting the IACV, TB, and FITV and none are leaking. Another thing i have done is cleaned the FITV and IACV w/ choke cleaner. Reading up on the problem, other people say it may be the FITV needs to be screwed in (the peice on the inside) but others say that the FITV is for COLD idle. I was thinking this would fix the 3k cold start, but would it fix the surge? or would i have to also take apart my IACV and look at it too? Any tips or personal stories welcome

If your idle drops after the temp. reaches normal operating temperature, then the FITV is perfectly fine. Now comes the hard part. For my car, it was the throttle position sensor that made the idle fluctuate, cause it couldn't give the ECU an acurate reading. Your problem might be timing, cause the idle is fluctuating, or something in the fuel supply...like injectors. Why not pick up a B&M adjustable fuel pressure regulator, with the psi guage, and an a/f ratio meter. With those 2 things installed, you can get a better idea of how the fuel supply is working, and idle problems are always fun with Hondas.
Well, it fluxuates from about a min after start on...for about a min after start it is steady 3k, but it fluxuates way b4 it reaches normal temp, and then it still does it. How would i go about fixing my TPS? I have noticed (since i did the swap) that i have an extra plug. I believe that it is coming from the Old Map Sensor since the old engine didnt have the sensor directly on the TB, and the new one does, so im not exactly sure what the extra one is doing. When i plug it into the TPS i get a CEL, and when i plug it into the MAP, i get a CEL, so wtf mate?
Well, since im a bit confused, I think an easy way for now to solve this is to take the TPS, FITV and IACV from my old engine, take em apart and look at em, put em back together and put em on my engine(in car) and if it runs fine, it runs fine, if it dosnt i will go to shop.
BTW, im poor and having a job that dosnt give me $$$ (all goes to parents for ****** insurance on a car that dont work well), it isnt really good to go to mechanic, and being that my bro is one (for army, so he dont know **** about IACV & FITV ****), no point so its all DIY, w/ goodyear shop as last resort!

ok, I hear ya...well, first off, dont take apart the FITV!!! If it worked fine, leave it alone, just use the old one on the new motor if you decide to do that, but that cant be the problem with the idle fluctuating. Could be as simple as a cap and rotor being worn, or timing, or maybe its fuel injectors, fuel filter, idle screw adjustment...try that one yet? WOrst case scenario, would probably be a bad ECU, but thats on the more rare side of idle problems. Oh, and also maybe an old O2 sensor?
WTF you should not have an extra plug hanging for a MAP sensor, maybe for a purge valve or something. Are you using an auto ECU by any chance? What are your CELs first it will helps us alot.
Don't know how to check them? look at the write up, it's a sticky

ok here goes...
-No CEL's w/ current Setup, but if i swap those plugs i get them
-Im using the ECU that came w/ the car, so its a manual ECU
-the Extra plug was on the engine's harness when i got it, but since i have a 93 w/o some accessories it has nowhere to go, the new engine came from a 94
-Idle Screw ajusted, nothing
-Feul filter replaced 2k miles ago
-02 sensor replaced 5k ago due to different problem
-Fuel Injectors maybe, but how would i check/fix this in a cheap timely manner?
and last but not least
-I've read the sticky write up, but i cant seem to find the wire im suposed to jump. there is no wire of that description near my ecu or glove box
EDIT: Oh and one more thing, my cold start idle is like 3.5k, so the FITV may have something wrong w/ it anyway so im going to try changing it out

Yo guyz, who ever said the surge couldnt be from the FITV, you're wrong. By looking at this thread here, https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=699787, i fixed the FITV. I took it off in attempt to swap it, and the old one's bolts broke, so i looked at that thread and took off mine (which w/ ****** tubes and everything was a bitch and a half)and waddya know, it was rattling up the ****** yin yang. poped the top off(well, unscrewed) and screwed the peice down nice n tight, put it back on (which wasnt cake either), started my car (which again was cold now) and it started at 1.4k, then drove it around the block a couple times, NO SURGE and idleing at 800 rpm NICE. well, thanks for your semi help guyz, im just glad its fixed
