i have a stereo setup that i want to run that will be 500 watts rms with about 600 watts peak power. Would the stock alternator be able to handle this much power or should I get a stronger alternator. If i should get a new one could neone recomment an amperature rating for a new alternator? Also how many amps does the stock alternator put out? thanks

I have a similar amp running off the stock alternator..no problems.

 

Get a 1.5 farad capacitor and call it a day. I had one on my car for over 3 years and never had any problems running 2 12" rockford DVC's 400rms 800peak. Alternator never even flinched And I used to shake some mirrors. It's all gone now but alternator is still strong.

get a capacitor, your system will sound alot better, and will thank you in the long run
