Default civic track chasis

Does anyone know if a civic EG or EK is better for track purposes only? I know that the EG chasis is lighter. Is one stiffer than the other? Is there any wheelbases or things like that that will affect a lap time?

Can anyone help me out? I was thinking of starting a project car with one of these two chasis'. I need some advice.

They are both pretty equal when all things are considered. Really, it should boil down to which one you happen to get a better deal on! Just get a good straight car to start with, either one will be fine!

And this question has been asked before!

Oh yeah, and usually you have to wait more than 9 minutes for an answer in this forum even though it stays pretty busy!

Legends, there's more parts available for the EG than of the EK.

Once you get a cage in there, there isn't much of a stiffness difference. I went from an EF to an EK because I'm running in a series with age limits in 2005 and an EG would have "expired" in 2007. Also, it's what I found cheaper after totalling my EF.

Well motor swaps are much easier and brake/suspension parts are easily swapped from an integra to the EG.

Exactly, if you plan on running these sorts of classes, the EG is closer to the DC2 and more pieces are compatible.

However if you'll be sticking with factory engine block, brakes, control arms, etc. then the EK's disadvantage dries up. You CAN get all that stuff for an EK, anyway, it's just less common since it has to come from a Civic Si.

Buy what fits your budget and the sort of racing you intend to do. Chances are it will just boil down to whatever deal presents itself first.

We have an EK hatch and I dont feel that there is any distinct advantage over an EG hatch chassis.

For pure purpose sake (since we aren't talking about a particular class) I would say EG. Lighter and more aerodynamic (a few inches shorter than the EK). I am assuming you are talking about the hatchback?

:edit: Oh yeah, I forgot- The EK hatch is only DX, and so you have to replace EVERYTHING (steering rack, ALL suspension since there are NO Sway bars, etc...) which makes the EK more $$ and work.

i would pick a EK chassis just because it got longer wheel base.
