How do I pull check engine codes on a 98 honda civic???

 

take off passeneger side kick panel..
find 2 wire plug that is not plugged into anything..
take off dust cover..
put a jumper or wire to connect each of the terminals
turn key to on position
count the flashes
1 long flash = 10
1 short flash = 1
add it up
so long long short short short = 23

 

take a paper clip and stick it into the diagnostic plug on the passenger side kick panel. its a brown plug plugged into nothing.

read the codes by lookin at the check engine. long flashes for 10 and short flashes for 1

thats for a 92-95 civic. 98's are brown.
