Default non-parking ticket issued...when i wasn't even IN my car

i guess this is sorta kinda appearance related...
because the ticket was for the apperance of my car
didn't really see any threads on this particular topic...
but anyhow...
i parked my car on the side of road (in cali btw)
and bout 2 hrs later when i return to my car...
low and behold...
a bright orange sealed waterproof envelope awaited me on my windshield
upon opening the envelope...
a citation for my tinted passenger and driver side windows
i kno i'm wrong for having it in the first place
but from this i have a couple of questions...

0 has this ever happened to anyone before?
(getting a ticket when you weren't even IN your car)
0 is this even legal?
(i kno an officer of the law issued the ticket...but maybe he was bored)

thats a load of bull **** i was always informed that to be ticketed in a non moving way itd have to be a parking ticket or something like that... you can probly get it appealed and dropped if you fight it which would be a good idea... good luck man

I think the ticket is still valid. Sucks, but **** happens. I got a ticket for no front plate when I was parked and I still had to pay it. Talk to the judge and you can probably reduce it to a fix-it, which should only be around $10.

btw...
the ticket wasn't even a fix-it ticket
automatic $30 fine
the money isn't really the issue right now
jus the fact that i got ticketed when i was NOWHERE even close to my car really vexes me

the optimast inside says at least your car was parked rather than a mover as technically they can say it was an unsafe vehicle and tow it, search it or generally dirty it up with cop cooties

ya, they have to notify you of the ticket, and you have to sign your initials to let them know that the police officier issued this ticket etc..

here's another question in response to this answer...
so u jus never paid the ticket until there came a notice in the mail?
my only concern is a warrant being issued for this outstanding ticket should i choose not to pay and claim that i never got the ticket...
how did "they" notify you to pay up and how did u make ur claim that u never got the ticket?

i didnt read everyones post, so im sorry if this has been said. my take on it would be this.... you were parked in a zone that had some sort of time restraint i assume. based on that the cop would assume that you drove your car there and that you were going to drive it away.

similar thing happend to me, i got a ticket for having expired tags while my car was parked on the street.

its pretty effed up, but what are you gunna do....

well then i guess if you really want to fight it you could say that the car was not driven daily and that it was trailered to and from that spot......

doesnt seem worth it, and like you said the money doesnt matter.

other than that, its just kind of a shitty ticket.

to the question above i actually got a notice in the mail in which i went to court for and said that this was a ticket that i had never received or signed for and everything was dropped good luck

wow..
My friend got pulled over in his driveway and received a fix-it ticket for his tint.

I deliver pizza in his area too. I need to watch out. Although my car look stock, my exhaust will give the cop a reason to pull me over, then I'd lose my car because of my illegal swap
