Default IPS k2 cams in motion.

Intrinsic Performance Soutions has finally released their k2 camshafts for the rsx type-s.

BigDawg & JTSmith installed them into their cars this weekend. Install went smoothly once we remembered that the timing chain auto-tensioner has an access plate. JTSmith also upgraded his valvesprings, which went suprisingly smoothly with 2 people, air compressor, and dinky valve spring tool he bought for 100$.

Once the cams were installed, of course we had to see how they stacked up against a known combo. . .

Anyhow, mods to the best of my knowledge are as follows:

JTSmith:

aem cold air intake
comptech race header
comptech exhaust
IPS k2 cams

Swwifty:

comptech icebox
type-r header + spoon downpipe
fujitsubo power getter exhaust
type-r cams
type-r intake manifold

rear seats removed

Both have k-pro, some sort of suspension work, stock wheel/tire size, some type of engine dampner/mount. So aside from the cams & intake manifold, they're pretty well matched. I rode in swwifty's (black) car first, then JTSmith's (white).

video was shot in 16:9, aspect ratio will be skewed unless you use a player that will do 16:9 such as the divx player. enjoy.

RIGHT CLICK SAVE AS PLEASE!!!!!

Yeah, and that is with all other internals stock, even an OEM combination of valve springs.

We have a set of calibrations that Doug tuned specifically for IPS cams.

...and before anyone asks, I cannot release them.

Actually, there was a dyno competition out in Carrollton at Z1 Motorsports, but I am going to call Balanced later and see if they have a slot Saturday. The additional money I will spend on the dyno will be about the same as the gas and time to haul my happy *** to Carrollton.

No, Justin's brother is borrowing his car for prom or some bullshit. I told him that was insane. I would laugh at my brother if he asked to borrow my car. Of course Justin probably has the nicest car in all of Hazzard County aside from that orange Charger with the rebel flag on the roof that the neighbors have.

Oh don't try and make me feel bad for letting my little brother borrow my car for a night. It's either my car or the John Deer.

nice cams but it's not a fair comparion. if you want a fair one, then both with have to have the same mods minus the cams part. because I know the AEM intake will make more power then the comptech icebox. so it's hard. should have dynoed before and after.

Thanks for the info.

So is it a most to change the valvesprings? The valvesprings that are list are from an RSX but different years?

Correct, they work with that valvespring/retainer combo or with the Toda/flat top 02 retainers.

from watching the video on the first run when the white car pulls away. What was that coming out of his exhaust as he shifted into 4th gear. It looks like a whole bunch of black powder shoot out. Like is if that car is running super rich.

It might have been because he really had not tuned it yet. Both of us are still working on the calibrations.
