96 EX Keyless entry (already searched)
do ALL 96 ex's come stock with keyless entry?
I wanna know becuase i wanted to buy a remote from honda but i dont wanna waste money
if i dont have it...anyway to find out if its not a stock option?

You need to have the stock deck in the car for the keyless to work. If you have it, pull it out and look on the back at the plugs. You should see the radio harness, antenna and if it has or had keyless entry, there should be a green security plug too.

Cyclone is correct, the receiver is built into your factory radio...

only in the 96-98 Civic HX and Civic LX...

you're better off buying an aftermarket alarm. for the cost of 2 tranmitters from honda, you can have a full featured alarm. btw, the honda keyless is not an alarm.

then where is the reciver located in the 96-98 ex?? and why did i have to keep my stock radio when going aftermaket??

I always thought it was for all 96-98 models... however, my 97 1.6EL has the brain for the keyless entry/security system under the driver's seat. My EL is similar in many respects to the EX in the US.

you are right, i know of 2 people who have 96-98 EX coupes with the remote keyless entry. both of them retained their stock decks behind the dashboards so they could keep the remote keyless entry. most of the audio places around here will do that if you buy a new deck.
but i would just take it to a Honda stealership and have them run your VIN and check it out for you

thanks guys...would they run the VIN for free...?
Also the lady i bought it from had some alarm in there buy i dont know why nothing worked on it..
i pulled the brain out and just left the wires cuz i didnt know where they went...do u thinik it would be a lot to have someone troubleshoot my alarm?
