HID kits are illegal in the US for a reason

putting A HID system in a enclosure that was not meant for it will cause extreme glare and will blind people.

The only right way to do it is to do a retrofit. by using a HID projector and OEM HID kit

BTW those aftermarket kits are basically junk. capsules fail easily as well as the ballast.

Wrong you can buy JDM H4H HID kits from Japan, you dont "have to retrofit" anything, It's a plug and play mod.

WRONG!! Go ahead and buy the HID kit. and watch you get nailed with a nice fine for blinding everyone. HID kits are not meant for Halogen housings which use reflectors to reflect the light onto the road.

The HID is at least 5x brighter than halogen and more light is emitted through the housing and this is called glare which can seriously affect a persons vision on the road.

sure, you don't "have to retrofit anything" but if you do a retrofit, it'll come out wayy better then buying an HID kit.

I think Jdmlyfestyle knows his HIDs. Just read his article and it all makes sense. Now buying a HID kit ain't one of the things to buy now. Thanks for saving me money!

Don't get me wrong though. HIDs are nice, but "harming" other oncoming motorists is just not cool. Never know if they're going to swerve onto your lane and hit you. I don't want that.

Yeah, I did a writeup on customizing Acura TL HIDs into fitting in the JDM H4H housing. I still roll with them in my EG. Here's my writeup...

yes I would agree, the cutoff isn't sharp at all...it is all over the place.

Wow man calm down if you have the glare shield on it won't be so bad. Of course retrofitting is the best choice but some people dont want to go through all that trouble. I have had mine for a long time with no complaints or problems with the law *knock on wood*

wrong and right..

Yes, if you are going to have HIDs in non-HID housings then retrofiting in some HID projectors is the BEST way to do it if you want the best output and performance. However, there are ways to put HIDs into reflector housings without "blinding the **** out of everyone" as you like to say.

I have had TL HIDs in my stock EG housings with the H4 Shiled/Adapter for about 2 years now. In that time I have driven behind/toward/beside cops. I have never been stopped once for my headlights being "too bright" nor have I ever been flashed(maybe 1 or 2 times total over 2+ years. )

I agree with you. If you are going to do HIDs then go the extra mile and retrofit in some HID projectors. But, you can do it different ways, as long as you do it "right".

I'm workin on a retrofit of my own.. I just need to get some funding before I can do it. Maybe I'll sell my type-r interior and then do it up..

Yeah the cutoff does suck, I don't even like it to tell you the truth, but its DAMN GOOD for the type of headlamp it is in. Imagine if the JDM headlamps had the cutoff shield like the DOT USDM headlamps? It would even be better than mine, but of course not as good as a projector's cutoff, that's stating the obvious there. There is NOTHING better as far as an HID kit goes for the JDM EG headlight. And I am speaking for OEM HID kits and aftermarket kits, which we all know have been proven to have more problems than not. Ricey, everyone knows you are an HID guru, and you expect perfection when it comes to it, and if everyone had reasonable resources and expendable income, then I am sure that more than 80% of the people would choose projector retrofits, but you know a lot of people on here wanna be ghetto fabulous or are just JDM 4 Life y0! After we pick up our next hatch here at our house, I have finally came to the decision that I will spend some money on some Denji's and some Valeos, so I can get my sh*t right finally. No more JDMness, but I will swap back for shows and stuff, to be a JDM ***** at heart. Bottom line, I coulda' just said "look at the title of the thread" but I like to talk a whole lot
