Default custom exhuast questions(yes i searched)

ok guys i got a itr exhuast with mandrel bent piping on my gsr. i like the way it flows but i want something a little deeper sounding and i like the look of the N1 exhuasts. my pocket book is hurting right about now tho( college sucks) so i cant really afford a good HKS or apexi exhaust. so i have a few options. i could leave my exhuast how it is, buy a cheaper n1 style exhuast, or get a good quailty universal muffler like the apexi and slap that on there. i know im not gonna get some big if any gain in HP. but i would just like something other than stock. let me know what you guys think

any muffler is fine really, the universal stainless ones are all gonna be loud - no matter what style. I personally run a "stock muffler", that just has the same size inlets and outlets as my custom pipe, which is 2.25" right now. It's a little restrictive compared to one of the universal ones, but according to my dyno runs, it only costed me 0.4 hp - so I can live with that for the huge reduction in noise .

In any case, for anything under 200bhp 2.25" pipe is good, and anything over, make sure you use 2.5"

what exactly is your question? if you would like a louder tone out of your exhaust along with better flow, just get an axleback or muffler and use your existing itr piping. generally cheap generic exhausts (particularly with n1 style mufflers) sound raspy and loud.

i just wanted to know if its worth it to get a cheaper cat back or just keep my exhuast and throw on a good quailty universal muffler in place of my stock one.
