umm.. not a lot of money.... hmmm....

short ram intake - 5-7HP, $60, 15 minute install
cold air intake - 8-12HP, $160, 30 minute install
complete turbo kit - 100+HP, $4000, several days worth of install and countless hours of tuning.

intake or turbo? thats gay....

Yeah turbo isn't cheap. It would be the best way to go if you can afford it, but if you want cheap power get nitrous. Just spend some time in a nitrous forum so you don't blow your engine.

we could tell...

n2o is less expensive, but I always feel a little dangerous on a stock setup.

Turbo is more expensive, but a touch more predictable in my opinion.

Nos is the cheap way to go, on an Si, the one you are getting, go with a 50-60 shot and you will be safe.
get AEM CAI
DC Header
Exhaust ( whatever you like )
that setup i used to have and i got it for around $1000

my turbo kit was around $1900
got a good deal on that.

A 60 shot will roughly knock a second off of the stock 1/4 mile time. So I think you'd be looking at a low 15 sec pass. Correct me if I'm wrong I don't remember the SIs ET. If you want to be fast you have to go turbo or build a crazy NA set up. the turbo would be the cheaper of the two. The best thing to do would be to hang out in the FI forum and learn about turbos and then build a custom turbo kit from used parts. Just buy parts when you find a good deal on them. To get parts I go to one shop for everything, that way I have a good reputation with them and I get good service and discounted prices. If there is not a shop around you check groupbuycenter.com and summitracing.com

what turbo kit did you use? whats a decent one for REALLY cheap? the only way i would go turbo is if i had the funds for it, and im gonna need my car to be fast soon after i get it....im thinking nos and a ram intake or something...maybe cai, but i've heard its not worth the risk for only another 1hp or so gain (over the ram). the risk being waterlogging the engine especially here in rochester, where it snows in june.
