Ya, on beveled elbows, filler is need otherwise is ends up VERY concave. I can do this with no filler on two 8 guage pieces flat-butted together. I measured before and after lengths, it was around .030 difference, and the weld was very flat on the outside, slightly convex on the inside. I recently emptied my scrap bin, so no pictures of that(Ill try again soon, its great practice if you take a day or two off).
Again, I want to reitterate, CONSTANT pedal position(slight adjustment as you go, to compensate for heat-soak), I just dont feel confident enough(nor have the time to completely learn how to re-weld) to do this without the pulser helping me out. Seems to work great using this method and its MUCH faster than pedal pumping!

I will only say that I have a designated tank and regulator for backpurging only. The rest can be had if you search in these forums a little harder. I woudl be more forthcoming, but I came up with this stuff on my own, with my own sweat, and it makes it a little harder to give away. Merge collectors for example, I told a few people, every one of them started their own business because of it. No names, but those people know who they are, and I can no longer disclose anything else. SOrry

Yeah looks more than 100% penetration. I can't imagine it being a benefit for flow.
I wish my camera didn't suck as much, I was playing with Solar Flux instead of backpurging. Solar Flux might not look as nice from the inside but it acts as a barrier to keep you from going over full penetration. It must have silica or something in it because once the weld pool hits the back of the weldment it turns into what looks like glass. Good stuff.

Yep its high, but its what I need to do to get the job done. Doesnt seem to be burning anything excessively, and the burnthrough is not actually as intrusive into flow as it looks in the pictures.

Hope it doesn't come off and go into a turbo one day.

Naw, already thought of that. I was using it on a set of headers I'm working on.
Just took some pictures of my backpurge setup for a pair of headers for a Ram SRT-10. It's nice, I weld up the flanges while their bolted to the jig to keep them from warping. I have each port tapped on the jig to allow for a line to be fed in from the backside.

Then how are you going to prevent it from comming off? I have heard of problems with it comming off and going into the turbo.

There's a customer's Ferrari, no turbo components. The M3 and Ram SRT-10 both have Vortech superchargers though.
