I was driving earlier, just cruising in 5th, and I hear a BOOM noise come fron right behind me ( or atleast thats where it sounded from) it sounded like a rock hit my car or something. So I keep on driving then I left to bare left so I put it into 3rd, then I accelerated and went to shift into 4th and it wouldnt let me in, it just grinded, I tried again, same thing, then I tried 5th and it went in fine, then I tried 4th again and it went in fine. And it kept driving fine the rest of the night. Any ideas?

 

hard to say.....maybe you actually were hitting second when it was grinding

Yeah are you sure you were not forcing into 2nd. Other than that have a look around your car make sure nothing is obvious hit.

 

Even if it was trying to go into second, though I know it was fourth, wouldnt it go right into second without a problem with the clutch fully engaged?

 

nope, it as something that blocks it from going into it that easily like 1st gear does.
