i wouldn't recommend washing your engine.. use simple green and wipe down the engine bay..

I wash my engine weekly and have never had any problems. I just cover up the inlet to the air filter on the CAI and avoid washing the distributor and it's fine. Plus the engine is always clean.

Your not going to start the car with the bad on!

Just use a plastic grocery bag and a rubber band and wrap it around the filter. (or take of the filter and cover the inlet.) I also cover the battery, distributor, and starter. Sone said to cover the starter once, and my starter is kinda touchy so I don't want to take any chances. Use simple green and a pressure washer if you've got it.

Just cover the inlet, simple as that. Even if a little water get's on the filter it's not going to kill you.

Considering all of the electric connections just blasting everything with a hose is always a bad idea.

You can't degrease and engine block and head and all other parts very well with just a rag and some simple green. Come on now......

I've been detailing cars for 4 years and also all the cars i've owned and still own. The only problem i've EVER had was that i didn't cover up my distributor one time and about 2 months later, all the parts inside were rusted and it went bad and wouldn't spin anymore. But that is it. Wiring, electronics, and everything else is fine. The intake is common sense. Cover it up.

Happy Cleaning!
