just pull the panel off and try. my friends nissan takes both sizes in the front doors, so i imagine with a little bit of retrofitting they wil work.

as well as the rears, but the depth for the speakers in the rear is shallow, so i modified mine by cutting out the plastic cage so the magnet could go through it.
with a little bit of ingenuity anything can be possible with those speakers.

Crutchfield used to sell 6 1/2 to 5 1/4 adapters, and I've seen them at audio stores as well. Though, honestly, you have space for 6 1/2 in the front, might as well see if you can return those and get bigger speakers. You'll get much better low end out of a 6 1/2 than a 5 1/4. Even with a 10" or so in the trunk, you still want the fronts to go as low as possible to avoid a gap in the frequency range.
If you can't find adapters, you can use a sheet of platic, thin plywood, styrafoam, or anything else that will hold them in place. Cut the material in the shape of the exiting speaker, and mount it in there as a stock speaker, and cut a hole in the middle, and bottom mount the new speaker behind that. If you need a better explaination, message me and I'll answer when I'm less drunk.
I had to cut out the back of the plastic speaker mount in the door, and add some foam (weather protection) http://www.crutchfield.com/S-n...7XT65 behind it, to mount my Infinity's, since they are so deep (physically), but the improvement over stock is completely worth it.
You can also use those foam baffles and replace the existing plastic holder with wood, styrafoam, or anything else, and just cut it to the size you need.
Before anyone questions the use of styrafoam, go check how the rear speakers of a G3 coupe are mounted.

5.25's will screw into the OEM baskets, they just wont match up to the holes pre drilled for a 6.5. I also advise you to pick up a decent pair of 6.5 if you can exchange those you received.
If there is no other option but to use the speakers you got, slip the speaker into the speaker basket and find locations you can screw the speaker down to the basket.
