Motor: 94 VX

Just installed this motor in my car about a week ago to be used as a temp motor while my z6 is getting built. I had my buddy taking the car to his house to change out my rotors and pads. On his way to his house he heard a loud pop noise and thought it was the brakes since they were screwed up. He got out and looked around and found nothing so he popped the hood. He noticed the plug wire for the #3 cylinder was off a bit so he tried to push it back down. Didnt move. So he went to take it off to see what was wrong and a flame shot out of the hole.

So, we're utterly confused. It had been stuttering a little about a week before this happened but I figured I just needed new plugs and wires, no biggie. Then this happens. From people Ive talked to around here they say it's pretty serious, but no one can tell me what probably happened. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

 

Sounds like you didnt tight down the spark plug enough. Same **** happened to me once luckly all that happened was that the spark plug cable came off and the motor died before the spark plug went through my hood.

The motor I bought I didnt even look at. We just bought it and threw it in the car, lol. Guess I should do a once over to make sure the guy i bought it from wasnt a total idiot.

what Luserkid said is correct, I doubt that spark plug is screwed down all the way into the head and that's why the wire etc is sticking up. Go check it first and let us know what you find before you ask for anymore opinions.
