Turndown exhausts - suggestions?
In the thread on lightening my car up, it was brought up that I could replace my current exhaust for a smaller/shorter and lighter one, specifically a turndown setup.. I was referred to a product as pictured below from Coast Fabrications(link below the pics).

their prices seem alright, as well as the product itself, but I was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions on how to use their setup. They described it as a system that is slip fit and clamps down to a pipe already there.. what pipe would I use for this though? I currently have an SMSP testpipe, and surmised that I could just cut the flange off and continue to use it, but they seemed to think I would need a specific, new, pipe to replace the testpipe that their system could be slipped over..
additionally, does anyone have recommendations on other systems or other methods?
Thanks!

You need something that has a hanger on it to support the weight of the muffler/resonator. You don't want to be hanging that stuff off of the header alone.
you will have an exhaust shop weld on some some hanges and pick a length of SS tubing from kteller.com Those mufflers I posted work excellent and when I switch over to a different hader I will be using the instead
This is mine currently with kteller stainless tubing, 25in ss magnaflow resonator and and a 45 degree bent cut flush and it's pretty deep

so you replaced your test pipe with that piece as well? how did you know how much tubing to buy? just measured it out to where the first hangar was or something?

Well I bought 2ft of stainless straight the catco cat a 25in resonator and a 45 degree bend from ktller and a exhaust flange Turns out I only used about 1.4ft of straight piping so if you made it 3 ft you could skip the cat
just as an update, I ended up buying an SMSP turndown a few weeks ago at a good price.. it was much cheaper than the other place I had mentioned and of SMSP's usually high quality..
