Default alarm siren is real quiet now

Not sure what happened, but my alarm's siren is real quiet now and sounds like it's dying. The chirps when arming and unarming can barely be heard and when the alarm goes off it's just as quiet. What could have caused it?

did you drive through any large puddles recently? sounds like the siren got soaked.

I cleaned out my engine bay a few times. Could I take it apart and fix it or am I out of luck?

Just buy a new siren, less hassle and save time. Next time you clean your engine bay, use saran wrap to cover your siren.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by chowmien &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I cleaned out my engine bay a few times. I have run into this problem many times over the years, the 1/8" hole will solve the problem, or remounting the siren, [sideways] so water can't collect in the inside or outside cones.

If water is not the problem, go with Home Skillets' suggestion, and replace the siren, most car audio/alarm shops will have salvaged sirens that you can pick up for $5 or $10 off the installers, [ I have about 10 of them in my shop right now] 94

Yeah the siren is mounded facing downward, but I've always wrapped it with a plastic bag. I'm gonna go see if theres any water in it.
