air fuel gauge question
ok so i installed it but its only like lighting up one bar of red...indicating way way lean...and i know its not that lean....did this happen to anyone else that hase one installed in their lude??? do i just need to wait for the o2 sensor to heat up or what??? HELP!!!
Honestly, A/F Ratio guages are nothing but a pretty light show unless you have a wideband 02 sensor. Money could be better spent somewhere else.
As for your problem, recheck all your wiring... if problem persists, may be a bad 02 sensor.

I bet he knows it's not his car, but he is giving you some good advice. When you end up getting a wideband later down the road you'll wonder why you didn't just get it in the first place...

yea, i had A/F gauge in my lude and it was basically a pile of crap with sum lights that went back and forth. that and its about as accurate as me playin darts when i'm drunk. its useless, why i still have it in my car... i dont know haha but its useless.

hey so if an a/f meter is hooked up right it will swing around all the time? theres one on the lude I just bought and I thought it just wasnt hooked up right, and if I switch to a wideband will it work properly?? This is of course assuming I dont just swap it out for a more usefull gauge.
Sounds like you have the wrong wire hooked up.
There are two or three solid white wires, and if you tap off the wrong one, it will do exactly like you're describing. Also, make sure your connections are well-connected.

im a 3rd genner...91...
i tapped the white wire coming off the middle plug...it was like b12 white...but i also could just have inadiquite power so that the lights arent lighting up bright enough..cause the red bottom 2 light up a bit at night, but i cant see em durring the day at all...that may be the prob.

Oh, and the a/f gauges using the stock O2 sensors are NOT crap; they are just not accurate enough to tune by.
They are like a switch; it will say either lean or rich, but not more than that. For those of us that only wish to know when we go really lean, that's great! But for anyone wishing to tune their motors by the signal, it's not good enough.
The stock O2 sensor does its job, and it does it well. People just don't like the fact that it doesn't do miles above what it was designed to do.
