b16 crank in b18
ok ive heard that putting a b16 crank in a b18 will stroke, and ive heard that it will destroke it, i have a b18a i wanted to put this crank in, just wondering which one is correct and y?
B16 crank has a shorter stroke (79mm). that's why its only a 1.6. putting it in a 1.8 will destroke the motor to a 1.6. But you would need longer rods so that the piston to deck height remains the same, otherwise, the pistons won't come up to the top of the cylinders.
the B16B is essentially an Integra Type R engine destroked to a 1.6L with a B16A crank, with longer rods.

You can stroke a B16A in this manner. But it is not a really good idea. The B16A block is just too short to gracefully accept such a long stroke.

So you would need a larger crank to "stroke" the motor. Here's a small order of cranks relative size. b16<b17<b18c<b18a/b=b20 (b20 just has a bigger bore.) You might wanna research and make sure you do things right, just saying.
