I drove up to wisconsin to get mine the other day. was distracted checking for cars and i hit a giant rock, which I think made the sidewall of the tire flex and hit the rim - i can see rubber on the rim. I think I hit it off center on the tire which is why the sidewall flexed. It was the worst sound I ever heard, but I don't even think the wheel jerked. I guess the winter tires have soft sidewalls? alignment was even fine. Go figure, i've been pretty lucky this winter, knock on wood. I heard it, and visions of bent tie rods were entering my head because i never heard anything like that, until i realized the car was still going straight.

I hate winter snow plows that pull up pavement.
