I have white smoke coming from my 94 gsr when starting cold. It isn't coolant I think because it smells like burning not sweet. The smoke is coming from the engine bay and it is making a high pitch whistle noise. What can this be?

Check your header for any exhaust leaks, check vaccum lines, head gasket, ect...

 

have you checked your coolant level just to be safe?

 

white smoke usually indicates coolant leak
