obd-2 type-r in a crx?
i have a type-r in a crx that was converted to obd-2. now my question is i am running 1 o2 sensor and i am going to sim it, but i cant read the codes on my ecu. it is an obd-2 type-r ecu with no led light or i dont have the blue plug that the obd-1 and obd-2 cars have so i have no way of reading my codes.
can u help?
or is there anyone who knows how i can wire in that blue plug so i car read the codes?
thx

You may not be running true OBDII in your car. The 1996-1998 JDM ITR ECU uses OBDII plugs. But it operates and uses the sensors of an OBDI ECU. In other words, there is no second oxygen sensor with this ECU. And because this ECU is very easy to set up in a CRX, has the proper fuel maps for a B18C5, comes 'free' with a 1996-1998 JDM ITR swap, and is cheaper to buy than even a 1G PR3/PW0, there is the greatest likelihood that this is the ECU you have.
Now are you actually running a check engine light? If not, there is probably nothing wrong. Regardless, the way to check codes varies with how the ECU was wired up. When I change an ECU, I wire it up so that the original timing adjustment connector is used as a timing adjustment/service check connector. This is located on the driver side on the engine bay on 1988-1989 cars and by the HVAC fan under the dash on 1990-1991 cars. Hopefully yours was wired up to use the existing connector. Otherwise, it is anybody's guess as to where the service check connector was wired to.
Regardless, when you finally short the connector, count the flashes to check codes. Remember that long flashes are tens and short flashes are ones. Error codes are identical to those with 1988-1995 ECUs.

Does the 96-98 JDM ITR ECU use a crankshaft fluctuation sensor?

I think so... as well as the gas tank pressure sensor.

the motor as far as i know is a 97 usdm type-r and and the ecu is usdm aswell. I thank u for partially answering my question so it is possible to wire in the blue check engine plug and yes i am throwing a codes or possibly more than one.

NO! The 1996-1998 JDM ITR ECU uses neither a crankshaft speed fluctuation sensor nor a fuel tank pressure sensor. For that matter, it uses neither a VTEC pressure switch nor an evaporative purge valve. Remember, think OBDI sensors - minus a couple.
