What year is the B16B ecu, and what year is his car? He may be having a problem because the ecu is OBD2a, and his car is OBD2b, or vice versa. If that's the case, a jumper harness should take care of the problem.

a b16b ecu is not us obd2 compatable. it is an obd2 plug yes, but obd2 scanners will not communicate with it. they are obd2 plugs but use obd1 thinking for lack of a better term. the b16b ecu does not look for the crank fluctuation sensor, nor the second o2 sensor. if you were in delaware, you would fail emmissions with a jdm ecu because of the lack of communication.

depends on the year of the car if it is a 99-00 si, its cool. but if it is a 96-98, you will need a jumper harness. if it is a jdm b16, depending on the year, some sensors may not be there. i.e. the CKF and the vtec oil switch. not seeing what you have or dont have it is hard to tell you which avenue to take.
