1992 civic vx.. throwing code 48

1992 civic vx.. throwing code 48
i am throwing code 48 on my stock d15bz1 vx engine..... it is laf which is lean air fuel sensor... the people that i have talked to said that it was the 02 sensor going to the exhaust mani... it is the 5 wire 02 .. so does anyone know for sure if that is the problem or could it be something else?
