"Check Engine" light comes on after exhaust work--Any ideas before I go to dealer?
I drive a 1992 Prelude SI with 131,000 miles. The flex pipe developed a leak so I had the mechanic at the corner garage replace the front piece of the exhaust a week ago. The car runs fine, but now the "Check Engine" light comes on about 45 seconds after the car is first started (3 or 4 seconds if it has been recently driven). The mechanic says that all he can think of that might have caused the problem is that he unplugged the oxygen sensor (but it was plugged back in before the key was ever turned on). He does not have an analyzer that will work on a '92 so he can't tell me what is wrong. Could the oxygen sensor coincidentally have gone bad at the same time? The light was not on before the repair. Before I take the car to a dealer or look for a garage that has the equipment to determine what is wrong, is there anything I can do or check myself?
Thanks-

reset the ECU.
Eaither; Pull the negative on the battery and leave it off for a few mins, or in the fusebox under the hood, pull the clock radio fuse for a few mins. Also might want to jack the car up (if it is a 5th gen or OBD2 make sure it has 2 oxygen sensors and that they are plugged in.)

reset the ecu like he said, it will work but if it comes on again drive strait to the dealer and have him plug his handy computer right into that ecu of yours, and the ecu will tell him exactly whats wrong!
you have a a/f gauge?

its a 92, has to be a 4th gen. reset ECU and if its still on check o2 sensor. the dealer is probably gonna rip u off.
Reset the ECU. He may have turned the ignition on while the O2 sensor was unplugged, causing it to store a code. Resetting it will let you know if it's an old code or if something is currently wrong.
