check engine light.
on my way home tonight my check engine light came on followed by my atts light coming on. from what i have read the atts shuts its self off as a saftey thing when the check engine light comes on? is that correct? also i have just found out that the piece connecting to my headers that eventually connects to my cat (has like a mesh flex piece) has a pretty big hole in it and exhaust is definitely leaking out of it pretty bad. could that be the reason my check engine light came on tonight? the hole in my exhaust has always been there but tonight when i found it i shoved a screwdriver into it and the piping just kinda crumbled.....now the hole is pretty big. i am thinking maybe the o2 sensors arent reading much cause there is hardly any exhaust making it to them? could that be? should i get the exhaust replaced and see if it fixes it or should i take it to a mechanic and have him hook it up to a computer first? thanks guys!
first question already covered
common sense would suggest to fix problems
whether that problem is the root of your check engine light or not is up in the air
if you had searched you might have found out how you can find out why you have that check engine light, by reading out the code....
