Default 1996 Clutch question

Clutch pedal is just about resting on the floor, with only one to two inches of travel. Will not allow the car to be put in gear with the motor running. If I start it in gear, the car will move foward slowly with clutch pedal fully depressed. I was thinking that the clutch master cylinder was at fault or maybe its an adjustment issue? Any thoughts or ideas welcome. Great information on this site.
Regards,
Darrin

Unfortunately there is no adjusting, it's hydraulic. Have you been slowly loosing fluid? I am thinking that it's your master cylinder or slave cylinder, and from what I was told it's best to replace both at the same time. Which may have been a bunch of crap but that's what I was told. When was the last time your clutch was replaced?

same thing happened on my 96 last year. no pressure on clutch, would not go into gear while running. i replaced the clutch slave cylinder and fixed it right up. if i remember correctly the part was 55 or so. i saw the same part on nopi for 20 though if this isnt your daily driver and can wait a few days. the clutch slave cylinder took an hour to replace, bled the system and filled it back up with some fresh DOT 3.

I payed $30 form my slave cylinder and it took about an hour to put in and bleed the system. I just called around to all the auto parts store found the cheapest and then asked if someone would price match which some will do and then take an extra 10-15% off the price for going to their store, worth a try. Unfortunately I took my car in a few months later to have a fluid leak checked and it was my clutch master cylinder which I had them replace, then realized I should have saved the money and done it myself for a third of the cost. The master cylinder should be around $60 to $80 remanufactured.
